Readers, be warned! The following article contains MAJOR Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 SPOILERS!!
A character who perished in Avengers: Infinity War may be resurrected in its untitled sequel.
Infinity War’s massive body count left us devastated. From beginning to end, Thanos killed off one beloved character after another. Gamora’s death may have been the most heartbreaking of them all. Even the Mad Titan was in anguish over it.
Thanos evidently had no intention of killing his adopted daughter. He was only forced to do so after Red Skull, the Soul Stone’s keeper, informed him that he must sacrifice someone he loves in order to lay his hands on the Infinity Stone. He wept as he grasped her hand and threw her over a cliff.
Given Marvel's history, we might expect some or all of the characters killed in Infinity War to be revived in the sequel, especially Spider-Man and Black Panther, who are set to return for more standalone movies in a post-Phase Three MCU. But does that apply to Gamora, too?
It apparently does! Zoe Saldana recently suggested to E! Live from the Red Carpet that she’ll be back in the fall to shoot Avengers 4:
At least for me, it felt like a TBC (to be continued), because I knew that we will have to all come back at some point this fall and finish up the fourth installment of Avengers. So, it felt like “See you later.” It didn't feel like a formal goodbye.
While it might appear that Saldana’s comment confirms Gamora’s return in the May 3, 2019 release, keep in mind that a number of Marvel actors have made comments that turned out to be misleading once their movies hit the theaters. It's also possible that Gamora’s Avengers 4 appearances will be limited to flashback sequences, so it might be wise to avoid jumping to hasty conclusions.
