While there are still about 2 years until Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is released, you can start already to get excited for the follow-up of last year's main event. The casting process has already begun and the script is all but written by James Gunn.
So what can we expect? Well, we have no idea, but the director has just said that there is quite a surprise in store for fans. What kind of surprise? Well, check it out below!
A new Guardian
It's pretty easy, isn't it? And even without the director saying it quite explicitly, we should have expected this. After all, Marvel has always doubled-up on characters when it comes to their solo movies. And why would Guardians of the Galaxy 2 be different?
During a most recent Q&A session with the fans, the director said that a new Guardian will be added to the roster. But this isn't all, since he has also thought about an actor that might play this new character. Who that actor is remains a mystery at this moment, although James Gunn also said that he has already talked to him.
Of course, we are presuming it is a male character - but it might as well be a superheroine to be added to Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2
A while ago, James Gunn revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy will be a story about fathers (with Yondu making a return, him being the closest thing to a father for Peter Quill). However, the director also said that this time around two female Guardians will be featured in the movie. It can't get more explicit than that, can it?
And we also know that Marvel is actually lacking strong female characters - so could this be it? Well, for the moment, these are just suppositions.
