Remy LeBeau (Channing Tatum) will apparently encounter more than just the usual foes in the Gambit solo movie. Fresh information has surfaced online that indicates that a romantic rival from Marvel Comics will make an appearance.
That Hashtag Show shared the following casting breakdown for a new character named Butler in the upcoming Gore Verbinski venture:
Supporting Character (30-40): Rosa's fiancé, villain with metrosexual charm. Should be physically imposing.
THS believes that Butler is the codename for Donyell Taylor, aka Bandit. Created in 1993 by Fabian Nicieza and Ken Lashley, the villainous mutant has bioelectrical powers and is an accomplished acrobat, marksman, and martial artist. At one point in the comics, he dated Bella Donna Boudreaux for a few months after she and Remy parted company.
It's been heavily rumored that Gambit will introduce long-awaited villain Mister Sinister. We’ve also heard that the female supervillain Candra will show up in the movie, so it seems unlikely that Bandit will be the movie’s main antagonist. THS speculated that he might be an early obstacle for Channing Tatum's character to overcome as he woos Bella Donna (Lizzy Caplan).
According to a recent Omega Underground report, the February 14, 2019 release will head into production in March 2018, and continue for ten weeks, moving from New Orleans to additional undisclosed locations.
There have been reports that 21st Century Fox’s original budget for Gambit was a colossal $155 million. However, that amount may have decreased as directors have come and gone.
