Frank Grillo Doesn’t Want to Return to the MCU

His death marked the beginning of the Civil War, and Frank Grillo's Crossbones died as abruptly as it can get. The actor teased the importance of the character (even saying that Crossbones would kick Hulk's butt), but he was dispatched as soon as the movie started. For some fans, this was a disservice to the character, since he was the one to kill Captain America in the comics.

Despite that, Grillo was approached by Marvel after the debut of Captain America: Civil War for a return. According to the actor, this was possible, especially since nobody saw Crossbones' body after the explosion.

But the actor isn’t interested in returning. He believes that there is no future for characters like his in the MCU, which is now dominated by Captain America and Iron Man:

I think I'm done. Same thing with Captain America. There's nowhere for it to go, unless you're Captain America or Iron Man. They were talking about it, but I was like, “You know what? I'd just rather not do it.” I'm so appreciative and grateful to have been a part of something that big (Collider).

It seems pretty weird to have the character return after his presumed death. As far as his corpse is concerned, given the magnitude of the explosion, it's clear why it wasn’t found. Anyway, we can cross Frank Grillo's Crossbones off the list of characters that might be brought back to life by Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet.

Of course, given Scarlet Witch's powers (we still don't know what she can do), Crossbones could have been sent to another dimension or something. And this means that Marvel could bring him back, but only if the actor is recast.

What do you think? Should that happen?
