Many fans would agree that the second trailer for Deadpool 2 was a cut above the first. But a new trailer just popped up online, and it’s better yet.
This final trailer is a tad shorter than its predecessor, but there’s no shortage of new footage from the May 18 release. Trailer Two referenced 21st Century Fox’s 27 Dresses and The Devil Wears Prada. The latest trailer charges the studio with killing off Wolverine, a beloved character played by Hugh Jackman for 17 long years.
There’s been quite a bit of speculation about whether Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) will once again break the Fourth Wall by pointing out that Josh Brolin, who plays Cable in the sequel, also plays Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadpool answers that question in the final Deadpool 2 trailer:
Pump the hate brakes, Thanos.
The trailer also doesn't hesitate to poke fun at the DC Extended Universe. Trailer One mocked Justice League's CGI drama, but in the new trailer, a brooding Cable stabs Wade Wilson in the shoulder, growling:
You’re no fucking hero. You’re just a clown dressed up as a sex toy.
The Merc with a Mouth is clearly having a hard time besting his opponent in a physical contest, but he manages to win the war of words:
So dark. You sure you’re not from the DC Universe?
In addition to the verbal exchanges, the final trailer is heavy on the action sequences. In one shot, Deadpool replicates a stunt from X-Men Origins: Wolverine in which he used his sword to chop an incoming bullet. There are also cool aerial shots of Cable, Domino and Colossus, as well as fresh glimpses of X-Force members Shatterstar and Bedlam. Check it all out below!
In case you missed it, the trailer announces the launch of the Deadpool 2 ticket sales!
