Doctor Strange is tracking to have an excellent first weekend at the US box office. The latest offering from Marvel will introduce magic into the MCU, and it will also touch on the idea of a multiverse. As if this weren't enough, Doctor Strange may also introduce the next big baddie of the shared universe, the ruler of the Dark Dimension called Dormammu.
So there is quite a lot riding on this single movie - without taking into account that Doctor Strange is also set to be the most powerful of all MCU superheroes. But the most recent reveal raises the stakes even further.
If you want to find out more, check it out below. But be warned - this is a pretty big spoiler for the movie!
Ever since the first trailer dropped, the fans have been saying that Doctor Strange will be the movie in which another Infinity Stone will appear - particularly, the Time Stone. And that is because of what the Ancient One tells Stephen Strange (I spent so many years peering through time). Then came another hint that the Time Stone will be featured in the movie, as the Eye of Agamotto, when Marvel released the Time in Reverse clip for the movie.
During an interview with EW, Kevin Feige said that the Eye gives Strange many powers. However, the most important of them all is that it enables the superhero to screw around with time. Scott Derrickson, on the other hand, said that the Eye of Agamotto is not necessarily the one from the comics, thus implying that the artifact will be adapted to fit the MCU:
It was so cool "” we knew we didn't have to improve greatly upon what was in the comics for it to be interesting for a modern audience. (via CBM)
So is this another way of saying that the Eye of Agamotto is, in fact, the Time Stone? It certainly appears so! What do you think?
