It was announced in May 2015 that The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone would helm an adaptation of The New Mutants, but not much else has been revealed about the project. While Boone has confirmed the team line-up for the 20th Century Fox venture, we had no idea about who they would be facing off against.
However, Coming Soon got their hands on a storyboard animatic for a particular New Mutants sequence that reveals the movie's big baddie as the Demon Bear.
Introduced in the May 1983 New Mutants #3 issue, Demon Bear is a gigantic bear with immense strength. He is capable of teleportation and transformation, draws power from negative human emotion, and corrupts human souls. You can check out the storyboard animatic below!

The website's sources claim that The New Mutants will be "a big departure from the sci-fi-action spectacle of other X-Men films". They are calling it a horror movie in the style of "Stephen King meets John Hughes".
While an official release date is yet to be announced, Fox is aiming to launch the X-Men spinoff movie in theaters in spring 2018. If that’s true, The New Mutants will hit theaters on March 2, 2018 - a release date set by the studio for an untitled Marvel movie. However, they might also go for a June 29, 2018 release date if they intend to release Deadpool 2 ahead of it.
It was reported earlier this year that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams and The Witch star Anya Taylor-Joy were being considered for the Wolfsbane and Magik roles in The New Mutants. Coming Soon claims that those rumors are accurate, and also suggests that the studio is aiming to land Ashby star Nat Wolff as Cannonball. We should also mention that Wolff has worked with Josh Boone in The Fault In Our Stars.
