Caliban is not one of the A-listers of the X-Men universe, but he does have a special ability that would make one prefer to be his friend instead of his enemy.
What's even great about Caliban - of whom we'll talk below - is he'll show up in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, as Bryan Singer would have us believe.
Bryan Singer has done a hell of a job keeping fans posted with this and that about his ongoing venture, mostly via his social media accounts.
And his latest post is precisely about Caliban. And while I don't read it as a confirmation proper, most fans take it as such.
Bryan Singer teases Caliban for Apocalypse
So, the text reads: "Shooting Caliban’s place of “business”". What do you make of that?
I don't see a confirmation here. Perhaps a scene will be shot there, perhaps the "headquarters" of Caliban will show up in a flashback of sorts.
In the comics he is depicted as one of Apocalypse's horsemen, so that could definitely work as an argument for him popping up in Singer's upcoming flick.
If so, that's nothing but good news: it would be the first appearance of Caliban in a live-action movie for the big screen!
But who is Caliban?
Caliban's abilities and connections
Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum created the albino mutant in 1981. He is cofounder of the Morlocks (with Callisto) and his ability is he has a nose for mutants: that is, he senses and tracks down other mutants within a 25-mile radius.
As a Morlock, he had an ill-favored look, not at all fierce or awe-inspiring, crawling in the tunnels beneath Manhattan.
He changes his appearance once he becomes a horseman of Apocalypse, turning into a fearsome creature. The Morlocks aside, his previous connections are the X-Men, X-Force and X-Factor.
So, there you have it! If Caliban appears in X-Men: Apocalypse, the obvious question is: what version of the mutant will Singer slot in? Will he be one of the horsemen? Have your say below! And stay tuned, we’ll bring you the hottest scoop on all things X-Men!
