Apparently we'll have the pleasure of encountering Brie Larson as Captain Marvel in two 2019 movies: first in her standalone movie, and then in the still-untitled Avengers 4!
Since Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con International 2016 announcement that Larson had been cast as Carol Danvers, we've wondered whether she might show up in one or both of the next two Earth's Mightiest Heroes installments. But we saw no sign of her on the Avengers: Infinity War set at any time during its 172 days of filming. After production concluded, Joe Russo confirmed during an interview that Captain Marvel wouldn't appear in the movie.
But he made no mention of Avengers 4, and we felt that he avoided the topic to also avoid saying that Larson wouldn’t be in that movie, when the opposite may be true. According to the Twitter account @AtlantaFilming – a consistent source of set photos and production tidbits from movies shot in Atlanta, Georgia – Larson was spotted on the set, apparently filming alongside Chris Evans. Check out the tweets below!
Hi… #BrieLarson 🙂 (And #ChrisEvans…) Like Chris is an afterthought when Brie is here.

It’s not a spoiler that #BrieLarson is here. Fans aren’t dumb. Everyone knows she is going to be in this thing.

Atlanta filming typically posts photographic evidence to back up their tweets, and that didn’t happen this time around. But it would make sense for Captain Marvel to show up in the Russo Brothers flick, primarily because her solo outing will roll into theaters first. It’s unlikely that Marvel would introduce Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019 and then leave her out of the May 3, 2019 release.
Also, an Avengers 4 casting call seemed to indicate the involvement of the Skrulls, the villainous extraterrestrial race that Brie Larson's character will confront in her own movie. We don’t think she’d sit out a confrontation with her old foes.
