It has been a long wait - but now we have the confirmation. As Kevin Feige has promised, this summer we have found out who will portray the first true superheroine of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, unlike those rumors said, it isn't Emily Blunt, it isn't Katheryn Winnick, and it isn't Natalie Dormer. Instead, as the recent reports said, it’s Oscar winning actress Brie Larson.
But this still came as a surprise. While Brie Larson was present at Comic Con, everybody just assumed that she was there to promote Kong: Skull Island. But it wasn't just for that. As the actress herself said on Twitter, the fans should start calling her Captain Marvel.

Of course, there’s still a long way to go until the solo movie is released. As a matter of fact, Carol Danvers will have her solo adventure just before the second part of the Infinity War arrives. Does that really mean that she won't get an origin story? That's fine with us.
Especially since this brings the opportunity for Captain Marvel to appear in other movies before that. This strategy worked wonders this year with Spider-Man. And it was even better for Black Panther. So maybe Captain Marvel's backstory will be explained through a couple of flashbacks until 2019. Or, maybe even better, Carol Danvers will become the superheroine between now and then, just like T’Challa did in Captain America: Civil War.
All in all, Marvel continues the trend of hiring the most successful stars of the moment for its movies. Thus far, we only know that Brie Larson will appear in Captain Marvel. Who will be next? Seeing that the film will be released on the 8th of March 2019, there is still a long time until we find out.
What do you think?
