Take this with a grain of salt, but Blade might appear on the big or small screen sometime in the near future. And, as far as we’re concerned, it’s about time. After the Wesley Snipes franchise died with a less than satisfying third part (titled Trinity and featuring Ryan Reynolds, among others), nothing certain was heard for a long time. Then came Wesley Snipes, who said that he is game for another movie and that he's already having discussions with Marvel.
Nothing happened, of course.
So where does this new rumor come from? Well, from the unlikeliest of all sources. During the NYCC panel of Underworld: Blood Wars, actress Kate Beckinsale revealed that discussions took place with Marvel concerning a Blade team-up. However, they led nowhere, since (allegedly) Marvel already had plans for the character.
Of course, the discussions could have also failed because Marvel wanted nothing to do with a franchise that just won't die (yes, the Underworld series gets worse and worse with every new installment). Check out what Kate Beckinsale said when asked about the team-up:
No. We had that idea. No"¦They're busy. They're doing something with Blade. (via CBM)
What can be certain is that the vampire hunter won't team up again with vampires (as it happened in the second, and probably the best, Blade movie). Which is great. Other than that"¦
We can suspect that he won't appear on the big screen, given the lighter tone of the MCU. So it remains to be seen if he'll pop up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or in the Netflix corner of the Universe. If he appears at all, of course.
What do you think, though? Will we get a Blade series anytime soon?
