Black Panther 2: The Return of Killmonger?

Ryan Coogler reportedly eyeing Donald Glover for a role and considering Killmonger's return in Black Panther 2!

A recent online report put forward a couple of interesting rumors about Black Panther 2. The first suggested that the studio had its eye on Donald Glover for a role in the sequel, and the other indicated that Michael B. Jordan might return as Killmonger.

According to Metro UK, director Ryan Coogler wants Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, to appear in the Black Panther sequel. There’s no deal official deal on the table, but the British tabloid’s source said that informal talks have taken place:

Ryan Coogler is currently mapping out Black Panther's sequel and has written in a number of new characters that movie-goers will be introduced to when it premieres. One of those characters, if he gets his wish, will be played by Childish Gambino. Nothing is set in stone, but "informal talks" [are happening] between Ryan, Gambino, and reps from Marvel and Disney to see if they can make it happen.

Donald Glover would be a great addition to Black Panther 2, but the problem is that he already had a role in Spider-Man: Homecoming!

There's no doubt that an actor of Glover's caliber could be a great addition to any movie. But it feels a bit weird after he appeared in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as a petty criminal named Aaron Davis.

But Glover wouldn’t be alone in playing more than one Marvel Cinematic Universe character. Alfre Woodard currently portrays Mariah Dillard in Luke Cage, and also cameo-ed as Miriam Sharpe in Captain America: Civil War.

Metro UK’s source went on to suggest that Coogler is considering bringing back former black-ops soldier Erik Stevens, aka Killmonger. Fans feel that he ranks among the MCU’s greatest supervillains. The insider added:

They're still yet to decide if Michael B Jordan will return in some capacity, but if he doesn't, it's likely Gambino may play some kind of villain.

While fans would embrace Killmonger’s return, something’s weird about that, too. T'Challa offered to heal him after stabbing him, but he chose to die a free man rather than be locked up. But then again, even the titular superhero is currently not among the living following that purple dude's finger-snap. We could probably live with yet another resurrection.

UPDATE: Okay, this came sooner than we expected! The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez just tweeted that both Black Panther 2 rumors are completely off the mark:
