Avengers: Infinity War has been shooting at Atlanta's Pinewood Studios for more than a month now. The cast roster includes two dozen confirmed names, and one more is about to be added. Terry Notary - known for his performances in the Planet of the Apes reboots, The Hobbit trilogy, and Avatar - has revealed that he’s landed a role in the Russo Brothers flick.
Notary recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about the recently released Kong: Skull Island, in which he portrays the titular gigantic ape. Toward the end of the interview, the mo-cap actor was asked about his upcoming projects. In response, he spilled the beans about portraying a henchman of Josh Brolin's Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War:
I'm working on four characters right now. I'm working with Josh Brolin and three other actors [in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War], and I'm playing Josh Brolin's right hand bad guy in the film. I can't say the name of the character, or I think Marvel will sever my head, but I apply those same principals of what it means to drop bullshit and just play a character truly evil. And it's working [Laughs]. It's truly working.
While Terry Notary managed to avoid disclosing the character's name, we’re pretty sure that it’s Corvus Glaive, or any other member of Cull Obsidian, aka the Black Order. In Marvel Comics, the Black Order is a villainous band of deadly aliens who assist the Mad Titan as he invades different worlds. Black Dwarf, Ebony Maw, Proxima Midnight, and Black Swan are other notable members of the group.
This isn’t Notary’s first time working with Marvel Studios. He served as mo-cap performer for Hulk and Abomination in The Incredible Hulk, the second Marvel Cinematic Universe installment.
