The official word was that Marvel would bring two MCU movies to their San Diego Comic Con Hall H presentation. It turned out that they brought way more than anybody could have expected. In addition to the Thor: Ragnarok trailer and the Avengers: Infinity War footage (which hasn't turned up online), they provided quite a few interesting tidbits about Ant-Man and the Wasp along with last night’s footage.
Despite rumors that Sharon Stone would reunite with Michael Douglas as Janet van Dyne, Michelle Pfeiffer will portray the wife of Hank Pym. In Ant-Man, she was lost in the Quantum Realm after completing a mission with her husband.
The panel confirmed that Laurence Fishburne will appear as Dr. Bill Foster, aka Black Goliath. It’s unlikely that Foster will have the same superpowers as the titular character.
The villainous Ghost, portrayed by Hannah John-Kamen (the upcoming Tomb Raider and Ready Player One), was also confirmed to appear in Ant-Man and The Wasp. It’s likely that the Ghost will work with Sonny Burch, portrayed by Walton Goggins (Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight).
Burch and Ghost are both traditional Iron Man villains, so it will be interesting to see the movie’s new take on the characters (we can assume that Burch will still be connected in some way to Cross Technologies and Darren Cross, who was the villain in the first Ant-Man flick).
As expected, the Ant-Man and the Wasp footage wasn't released online. But you can check out the description below, via Screen Rant:
The presentation started out with concept art from Ant-Man and The Wasp, and then proceeded to show Wasp in action, flying up to a ledge and looking down, as well as an approximately two-foot-tall Ant-Man riding on a little girl's backpack (presumably his daughter's). Then, attendees saw more artwork, this time showing Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) in a white suit. The footage concluded with a car chase showing a van shrinking and driving underneath another car, and then growing back to its original size and flipping said car, with Giant-Man peeking out of an alleyway at the end.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will be released on the 6th of July 2018. It will be the first movie to follow Avengers: Infinity War, as Ant-Man was the first to follow Avengers: Age of Ultron.
