10 Awesome Team-Ups We’d Like In Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War could be set to throw dozens of heroic characters into the mix together.

The 2018 and 2019 double-bill will pit the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe against an Infinity Gauntlet-wielding Thanos – and it will be epic.

With that in mind, loads of characters are going to be mingling with each other – some of whom won’t have met before – and the potential for epic team-ups is truly great.

In this article, we’ll take a look at ten pairs of characters who we’d love to see working in tandem in the biggest comic book movie event of all time. Here are ten awesome team-ups we’d like in Avengers: Infinity War…

Thor & Beta Ray Bill

Beta Ray Bill is sadly yet to make his presence felt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (though there were some hints suggesting his species might exist in the franchise in Guardians of the Galaxy), but there are rumours that he could appear in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.

If that’s the case, there’s every chance the Korbinite warrior could go on to appear in the Avengers: Infinity War movies – and that would be awesome.

In the comic books, Bill proved himself worthy of wielding Mjolnir and, as a result, was granted his own Asgardian weapon – Stormbreaker – by the Allfather Odin. Having him and Thor working alongside each other against the Mad Titan Thanos, combining the powers of their two near-identically-powered weapons would be awesome to see.

Rocket Raccoon & Hulk

Rocket Raccoon has, thus far, worked alongside one hulking being in the tree-like humanoid Groot. They were the best of buddies in Guardians of the Galaxy and, although Groot perished in the final battle of the movie, he’s expected to return after Rocket salvaged a piece of him and started to grow him a new body.

Even bearing that in mind, wouldn’t it be awesome to see Rocket fighting directly alongside the Hulk? Perhaps sitting on his shoulders firing his gun while Hulk smashes everything to hell?

It would put the smallest (well, aside from Ant-Man, but he’s not small as standard) and biggest heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe together and it would be really cool (and kind of cute) to see it happen in Avengers: Infinity War.

Gamora & Black Widow

The Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers both have a completely kick-ass and sexy female with a questionable past in their ranks. In the Guardians’ case, it’s former assassin Gamora, in the Avengers’ case, it’s Black Widow – and it would be awesome to see them kicking ass together.

The characters – portrayed by Zoe Saldana and Scarlett Johansson respectively – would look great alongside each other and the Avengers: Infinity War movies would obviously be the best place for that to happen.

Female fans would love the “girl power” aspect of the team-up, while male fans would love it for a load of entirely different reasons. Either way, it would be one of the best team-ups audiences could possibly hope to witness in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver

The Sokovian twins Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver made their first proper appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (after initially appearing in the mid-credits scene of 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier).

They did fight alongside each other briefly in the movie, but they didn’t get much of a chance to work seamlessly with each other prior to Quicksilver’s somewhat premature demise, when Ultron shot him many times in the final battle.

So how could they possibly fight alongside each other in the Avengers: Infinity War movies? Well that’s the magic of the Infinity Stones – there’s every chance that they could be used to resurrect deceased characters – and it would be cool to see Quicksilver given another opportunity to fight alongside his twin sister (there were unused scenes filmed for Age of Ultron that saw him survive, so Marvel Studios clearly had further plans in mind for the character).

Spider-Man & Daredevil

Netflix’s Daredevil is one of the best things going on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the moment and Charlie Cox is doing a great job in the titular role. Cox has since stated that he’d love his character to team-up with another certain character in a movie.

That other character is Spider-Man, which could now be possible, given that Tom Holland has been cast as the Webbed Wonder in the franchise.

Daredevil and Spidey have a long history of teaming together in the comic books and it would be fantastic to see them pairing up in the Avengers: Infinity War movies – assuming Marvel Studios bring the former into the movie world. They’re both agile as hell, they’re both from New York and they both wear red – now let’s see them both kicking ass alongside each other!

Ant-Man & Falcon

Falcon and Ant-Man

This unlikely duo first met in 2015’s Ant-Man movie, when the titular hero breached the new Avengers HQ to steal some technology for Hank Pym.

Only Sam Wilson AKA Falcon was there to protect the place and Scott Lang managed to successfully immobilise him and escape with the device he went there to obtain. Wilson was so impressed that he later suggested to Captain America they they utilise Lang’s services to help free Bucky Barnes from the situation he was in in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man.

They are now going to be on the same team in Captain America: Civil War and are expected to become good buddies – especially now that Cap has his old friend Bucky back, meaning Wilson will need to take a back seat where he’s concerned. Their friendship is set to be hilarious and charming, and seeing them fighting alongside each other in the Avengers: Infinity War movies will be great after its difficult start at the Avengers HQ!

Captain America & Bucky Barnes

Seeing Captain America and Bucky Barnes fighting alongside each other in the Avengers: Infinity War movies will be awesome. It’s not as though we’ve never seen it happen on the big screen before, but it would mean their relationship had totally gone full circle since we first saw them in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger.

After having been best pals growing up in the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s, the duo fought together in World War II before being reunited (after having gone down very different paths) in 2014. They fought, as Bucky had been brainwashed and rebranded as the Winter Soldier, then controlled by HYDRA.

But they’re set to reunite in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and seeing them living beyond that and fighting as a team in the ultimate cosmic battle to end all cosmic battles will be very satisfying for Marvel Cinematic Universe audiences.

Doctor Strange & Loki

This team-up would be absolutely fantastic to see in the Avengers: Infinity War movies – and the reasons behind that are numerous.

Benedict Cumberbatch will portray Doctor Strange for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in his 2016 solo movie (unless he appears in any of the Captain America: Civil War credits scenes, that is) and the casting is a very intriguing one. Tom Hiddleston has, of course, portrayed Loki so iconically since first appearing in 2011’s Thor movie.

Having the two magical characters working together would be awesome. Moreover, Loki’s redemption would be a cool thing to see on screen – he is so incredibly popular after all. However, the best thing about it would be seeing two top class British actors working alongside each other, giving a performance masterclass. Here’s hoping it happens!

Adam Warlock & The Silver Surfer

Neither of these characters have even appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, but it would be cool to see them teaming up in the Avengers: Infinity War movies.

Adam Warlock is fully expected to appear as soon as 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, as his cocoon has now been seen twice in the franchise – once in the Thor: The Dark World mid-credits scene and once in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Silver Surfer’s rights aren’t even with Marvel Studios at the moment, but now that Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot has failed, he may well make the move over.

The reasons it’d be great to see them teaming up are simple; first, they are both immensely powered cosmic beings who complement each other perfectly and, second, they were the two characters who warned Earth’s heroes of Thanos’ imminent attack on the universe in the Infinity Gauntlet comic book arc.

Iron Man & Star-Lord

Tony Stark and Star-Lord

Arguably, the two most popular heroic characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe right now are Iron Man and Star-Lord. Robert Downey, Jr.’s Tony Stark is undoubtedly the franchise’s flagship character, but he now has an emerging rival to that title.

Guardians of the Galaxy introduced Chris Pratt as Peter Quill and he soon imposed himself as a charismatic, witty, hilarious and formidable character – not too dissimilar from Tony Stark himself.

Seeing the two meet will be good enough. Seeing them have a witty verbal exchange will be even better. Seeing them fighting as a duo in Avengers: Infinity War – with the occasional quip being uttered at the same time – will be absolutely freakin’ awesome! Seriously, just imagine how cool it will be!

What do you think? Would it be great to see these guys teaming up? Which other pairs of MCU heroes do you want to work together in Avengers: Infinity War? Have your say below!
