If you saw Batman v Superman in the theater, then you most certainly loved Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. Sure, she may have appeared in just an extended cameo, and the cameo could have worked better (pausing now to check my emails) - but still, it gave the fans something to look forward to.
And Wonder Woman is the next big project coming from DC and Warner Bros., bigger in any number of ways than Suicide Squad (which will be released later this year). How come? Because the Wonder Woman solo flick will lead directly into Justice League Part One.
This being said, we can expect the studio to invest massively in this movie. And, according to the latest reports (via CBM), Warner Bros. did throw a bit of money at the project – $150 million, to be exact. Sure, it’s a smaller amount than some other blockbusters have to work with, but it’s still worthy of a big movie.
How much will be invested in the marketing campaign? At this point, it isn't worth it to speculate. However, given this budget, we can safely assume that Wonder Woman will turn a profit for the studio if it tops $500 million worldwide.
To be noted, it will be a busy June (with Bad Boys 3, The Mummy, World War Z, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and Transformers 5), following a relatively big May (Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. II, Baywatch, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales).
In other news, Madeleine Vall (mixed martial arts fighter and stunt actor) has revealed that she has also landed the role of Egeria in the Wonder Woman movie. In the comics, Egeria is the first captain of the guard who sacrifices herself in order to seal the path toward Hades (let the speculation begin?).
