Wonder Woman 1984: Cheetah’s Story Arc Revealed!

Shooting for Wonder Woman 1984 has barely begun, but we’ve already been treated to our first look at Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine).

We’re still not sure whether Pine will reprise his original role. Some fans may even be disappointed if it turns out that Trevor didn't really die at the end of Wonder Woman.

A couple of new pics – including one of Diana and Steve together – have popped up, so check them out below!

Everyone was surprised when it was announced that Kristen Wiig had been cast as Cheetah, the sequel’s main antagonist. We have no idea how this is going to work, but some newly revealed details about the character's story arc might help clarify things.

Wonder Woman’s concluding act was the movie’s low point, and villain Ares and the CGI-saturated battle took the blame. But director Patty Jenkins may have found a way to solve Wonder Woman 1984’s villain problem.

According to Kyle Buchanan of The Vulture, Wiig’s character, Barbara Ann Minerva, will be Diana Prince’s friend as the movie begins. She even tries to emulate Wonder Woman, but nonetheless turns out to be an antagonist:

This may just be a rumor, but it does bear some resemblance to Greg Rucka’s comic book run. If that’s the case, Wonder Woman 1984’s Cheetah may turn out to be a well-rounded, but also tragic, villain.

We haven’t seen an on-set pic of Wiig yet, but it’s reasonable to expect that her character will be created via motion-capture technology.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be in theaters November 1, 2019.
