At this year's San Diego Comic Con International, Warner Bros came up with the announcement that the Green Lantern reboot scheduled for 2020 will no longer be titled Green Lantern - rather the title of the movie would be Green Lantern Corps. We all know what that means, isn't it? Instead of having one titular superhero in the movie, we'd now have multiple.
But who was the first one to tease that? Was it someone from Warner Bros? No, it was the man who's been desperately making efforts to play the role of John Stewart in the movie - Tyrese Gibson. Back in June, he posted an image on his Instagram account teasing him and Chris Pine as the two Green Lanterns - John Stewart and Hal Jordan.
So, we can say that he knows pretty well about what's happening within Warner Bros on Green Lantern. Why wouldn't he? After all, he has had meetings with the studio regarding the movie. And, that's what he has confirmed in a recent interview with Collider. The Fast and Furious actor stated:
"I've already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we'll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that's not even my motivation."
So, what is his motivation after all? Let's find out on the next page!
He Would Be The Best Green Lantern!
According to Tyrese, it isn't the fact that there should be more black superheroes in Hollywood that acts as his motivation for the desire to play Green Lantern - rather he thinks that he can offer you the best version of the superhero! Why does he think that way? Let's find out from his following statement:
"I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there's a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing."
Well, I think that "˜$6 billion in box office receipts' part is being very optimistic, "˜cause to be frank, he didn't carry either of the big blockbusters by himself alone. He definitely had important roles in those movies, but certainly not the most imperative one.
However, there's a reason why he has so much of a confidence on his fans. Hit 3 to check it out!
He Was Innocent From The Beginning!
In the interview, Tyrese claimed that it wasn't he who started all these - it was his fans who pushed him to wish for the Green Lantern role! Here's what the actor said:
"Well I was innocent from the beginning. I was at home eating a bowl of Lucky Charms in my drawers, my ugly feet were out, and I got about six direct messages on Instagram with photos of me as the Green Lantern. This particular fan who did this fan art said that there was a community of people that had been talking for like a month and a half about who they think would be the best Green Lantern and they all picked me."
And that was enough! That made him so desperate to bag the role of the DC superhero. He added:
"I said to them, "˜I took the oath, and I am going to commit myself to this process of seeing what's possible."
While Tyrese Gibson is that much driven by the fans, Gal Gadot has a different sort of opinion regarding the fans! Hit 4 to learn about it!
Gadot – You Can Never Please Them All!
The Wonder Woman of DC Cinematic Universe - Gal Gadot - thinks that doing wonders would not help you satisfy all the fans and there will always be a section unhappy about it. Here's what she said in a recent interview with Interview Magazine:
"No matter what you do, you can never please them all. People will always have something to say because that's the way people are."
However, the Israeli actress isn't as disheartened about it as you might have thought from the above portion of her statement. She accepts it and does whatever she wants to! According to Gadot:
"But for me, it's my job. It's my career. It's my art. Whatever I do, I take it very seriously and I do my research and I give it my best. I just want to be able to shine and inspire people."
Well, the actress needed to say that because there has been a fairly crowded section of fans that weren't happy with the casting of Gadot as Wonder Woman. And even when we've got glimpses of her as the Amazonian Princess in the second official trailer of Batman V Superman (and I must say that those glimpses promise a lot), there are people who haven't shut their mouth yet. And there might be some mouths still not shut even after they've watched the movie.
