Superman: Red Son Conversations at Warner Bros.

We’ve had no reliable news about that fast-tracked Man of Steel sequel, and The Flash still doesn’t have a director. However, it appears that Warner Bros. has its eye on Mark Millar’s limited Superman: Red Son. If you’re wondering how this particular storyline might fit into the current DC Extended Universe, you’re not alone.

Of course, Mark Millar revealed that the studio checks out multiple comic book story arcs when deciding on a film starring a particular superhero. But even if that’s true (and it is), it’s surprising that Red Son, an Elseworlds story, has been mentioned.

In this arc, Kal-L crashed in the Soviet Union rather than in the USA. This made him an enemy of the US, and rather than starting a nuclear race, it starts a superhuman race. It’s an interesting story, and it’s full of twists and turns that lead up to a major reveal. But is this the right time to adapt it?

This news popped up after a Twitter conversation between Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts and Mark Millar. It began like this:

So what do you think? Millar posted that he’d rather not see this story butchered for the big screen, but he added that the previously mentioned director would do a proper job:

 

It would be pretty weird to see Red Son in this DCEU.
