Confirmed Shooting Date and Location for Shazam!

So far, we don’t know much about Shazam! beyond that David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) will direct. But we do have some news. The movie is actually moving forward faster than expected! And even though Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) won't appear as the main antagonist, the director has teased a couple of alternate villains: Mister Mind and Mister Atom.

Also, we’ve learned that the film’s working title is Franklin, which is most likely a nod to Benjamin Franklin and his lightning-related electricity experiments.

This means that it might not be long before we discover who’s going to play the titular character and his alter-ego Billy Batson. We could also soon learn who will play the two villains mentioned above. But how soon?

It’s been rumored that shooting is scheduled for early 2018. And the most recent reports have confirmed it.

According to the Canadian information site What's Filming, Shazam! production is scheduled to take place in Ontario from February 5, 2018 through May 4, 2018. Other superhero movies that have filmed in this region include The Incredible Hulk, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Kick-Ass, Deadpool 2, and Suicide Squad.

Of course, this doesn't mean that shooting will wrap in just three months. It’s more an indication that Ontario, and perhaps its capital Toronto, will be the movie’s main base of operations.

Given the timetable for shooting the movie, the director will have plenty of time to complete the film in time to release it on April 5, 2019.
