Ben Affleck's Batman days may not be over yet. If a new rumor is to be believed, the 46-year-old actor is eager to return as the Caped Crusader on big screen.
More than a year and a half ago, we came across a report suggesting Ben Affleck was hanging up the cape and cowl. Since then, countless reports have arrived, either trumpeting his imminent departure from the DC Extended Universe, or insisting that the return of Batfleck is still in the cards.
The latest installment of that series is brought to us by Hollywood Life. The website has learned from a source close to the two-time Academy Award winner that he no longer has commitment issues with Batman. Now, he is trying to get himself in the role for at least one movie.
A recent 40-day rehab stay isn't solely responsible for Affleck's getting back in shape. His renewed interest in playing the iconic DC Comics superhero served as a catalyst for hitting the gym. Also, Joaquin Phoenix's arrival in the role of Joker has been an inspiration for him, even though that version of the supervillain doesn't belong in the DCEU. Here's what the insider said:
He is back in shape not only for his health but he has a new-found love on doing Batman at least one more time again. He feels he isn't finished with what he wants to do with the character. There has been talk about replacing him, but he is now seeing what he might lose and really wants to play the character again. Especially seeing what Joaquin Phoenix is doing with the Joker character. He would really like to take the character of Batman and visit a more serious tone and side of the character and working with someone like Joaquin would absolutely spark his creative juices. He wants to figure something out with Warner Brothers to don the cape one more time.
