Margot Robbie is apparently quite excited to team up again with Glenn Ficarra and John Requa for the Joker/Harley Quinn movie.
A month or so ago, we learned that Warner Bros. was developing a new project centered on Robbie's Harley and her puddin', Jared Leto's Clown Prince of Crime. At that time, it was reported that Ficarra and Requa were in final negotiations to write and direct. You may already know that the Aussie actress worked with the directors on the romantic crime comedy Focus and the biographical war comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.
ComingSoon.net recently caught up with Robbie at a London press junket for her latest project, Goodbye Christopher Robin, and asked her about the upcoming DC Extended Universe installment. Admitting that she’d heard about the project, she had high praise for Ficarra and Requa:
They're great! It's fun working with a directing duo, and I love them. I've obviously done two films with them, so I think they're just brilliant.
During the interview, the 27-year-old actress revealed that she’s fond of love stories. She added that she’s looking forward to the Joker/Harley Quinn movie, which others have described as "a criminal love story…an insane and twisted love story…When Harry Met Sally on benzedrine":
I'm personally a sucker for a love story. In any iteration. I think people enjoy seeing two characters who, in Harley and Joker's case, would die for one another. It's kind of romantic, in a messed-up way.
Warner Bros. hasn't set a release date for the project, but it’s expected to follow Suicide Squad 2, which recently brought in Gavin O'Connor to pen the script and take the helm.
