Joss Whedon may be reluctant to cast a "movie star" as Batgirl, but it’s hard to guess what his feelings are on an actress whose career has taken a nosedive. So we’re not sure whether he’d even consider Lindsay Lohan, who’s been campaigning for the role.
There was a time when actors thought that accepting a superhero role would be career suicide. Today’s scenario is the exact opposite, and starring in superhero movies has become highly effective as an avenue to the top. We assume that the 31-year-old Lohan is aware of that.
As a young actress, she was recognized for her roles in The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, and A Prairie Home Companion, but the last few years have been nothing short of disastrous. In fact, she hasn't starred in a single feature film since 2013’s critically panned erotic thriller The Canyons.
Lohan’s been making an effort to revitalize her career, and she’s landed a couple of roles in UK-based big and small-screen ventures. Back in Hollywood, she’s had her eye on the role of Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, and she recently took to Twitter to announce her interest in the role:
RT if I should star in the new BATGIRL movie and everyone tell @joss ?â¤ï¸

Of course, Lindsay Lohan isn't the only actress who would like to wear the cape and cowl in Joss Whedon's upcoming DC Comics adaptation. Pitch Perfect 3 star Hailee Steinfeld revealed in a December 2016 interview that she "would love" to play Barbara Gordon. Baywatch star Priyanka Chopra also expressed her interest in the part.
In addition, Alicia Silverstone, who starred as Batgirl in Joel Schumacher's disastrous Batman and Robin, said that she’d like another shot at the role. We’ll have to wait to learn whether Whedon contacts any of these actresses.
