Given the level of secrecy around the Justice League project, there are quite a few rumors floating around out there about which comic book characters might be in the movie. And, of course, the biggest rumor all is that a Green Lantern will be revealed by the movie’s end.
The next rumor isn't about a Green Lantern (whichever Lantern it might be). It concerns an even bigger character who could potentially change the entire shared DC universe.
So check it out. But, obviously, know beforehand that spoilers follow!
Since Warner Bros. released the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Communion clip, we’ve all known that Steppenwolf, Darkseid’s general and the first Justice League villain, would come to Earth to retrieve three Mother Boxes. However, Darkseid, the despotic ruler of Apokolips, is a much bigger threat.
According to rumor, like the MCU’s Thanos, Darkseid will appear as the DCEU’s main antagonist in the Justice League sequels. However, The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez (via Screen Rant) reported that the uber-villain will show up much sooner than previously expected. Gonzalez revealed that Darkseid would be seen as early as this year, when the first Justice League is released.
Darkseid will appear either in the film’s prologue (maybe in flashback sequences) or toward the end, so it will most likely be an extended cameo. Most importantly, it makes sense for it to be a non-speaking role, especially since there is no word about any actor having been cast in the role.
It would be quite surprising for Darkseid to show up in the first Justice League movie. As far as we’re concerned, that would be a welcome surprise.
Justice League will be released on the 17th of November 2017.
