The Warner Bros. releases for 2017 include two that are set in the DC Extended Universe, including Wonder Woman, which is already a hit, both at the box office and with the critics. This makes Justice League's job a bit easier, because Wonder Woman has already made up for previous films.
We’ve heard that a new Justice League trailer will be featured on July 22 at San Diego Comic Con. And, if we can trust the leaked description of that trailer, we’ll catch glimpses of both Superman and the main antagonist, Steppenwolf.
We’ve been fairly certain that Steppenwolf would be Justice League’s main antagonist since the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released and the Communion clip turned up online after being left on the cutting room floor. The Steppenwolf in that clip barely resembled the one in the comics.
Until there’s an official reveal, there’s merchandise out there that will provide an idea of what Steppenwolf will look like. We know, the items are just toys, but they’re typically fairly accurate depictions of the characters and films they promote.
So check it out below, via CBM!
We’re excited that this version of Steppenwolf is more faithful to the comics than the version we saw in Communion. Naysayers are already complaining that he's the second DC Extended Universe villain to wear a horned helmet (maybe this is a fashion trend for evil gods in the DCEU), but we have to say that he looks pretty cool.
We’re wondering what Batman could do against him, given his tactic against Doomsday. But we'll soon find out.
Justice League will hit theaters on the 17th of November 2017.
