Joker - Nightmare Mission in Arkham Knight

Joker

Joker seems pretty happy when being cremated. Does that make any sense for you whatsoever? Well, the latest Arkham Knight trailer teases the return of the Joker, in a Nightmare Mission. After all, what is an Arkham game without the Clown Prince of Crime?

But, again, if you will watch the clip closely, it wouldn't make too much sense. Just like any nightmare wouldn't. And this is probably for the best!

Sure enough, everybody knows that he is dead. Even the beginning of the clip features Joker being burned in the crematorium. What follows, with the voice-over, is something totally unexpected: that scene, with the evil clown being burned, was in fact how Batman died!

Well, check out the clip below!

It is truly chilling to know that evil never dies. And this nightmare mission is indeed nightmare-ish, especially with the soundtrack chosen - Frank Sinatra's Under My Skin.

But there has to be something more to this to make any sense at all. After all, there is no connection with Joker being burned with what happened afterwards"¦

What could that connection be?

The Clown Prince of Crime

The Clown Prince of Crime

We can debate for a whole day and we still won't know. We can presume that Batman was dead that day in a rather metaphoric way: this powerful force of good was not needed any longer when his counterpart, the power of evil, was banished.

On the other hand, could the soundtrack provide another clue? Was that really the Joker being cremated? This is a rather silly question to ask - of course he was! But who is the Joker? Or rather, what is he?

Is the soundtrack trying to say that Batman is dead because he cannot kill his archenemy? Is the soundtrack saying that the Clown Prince of Crime resides in all of Gotham's citizens? Is Batman dead because he has to, because he is the reason why Joker appeared in the first place?

Who knows - we don't know. What we know is that there are just a couple of days until the 23rd of June, when Arkham Knight will be released!
