Joker Finds a Mother. De Niro Has Officially Entered Talks!

Joker is moving forward, having already set a shooting schedule and a release date. With the occasion of the San Diego Comic Con, we have also found out the real name of the supervillain. In this way, Joker will present the path Arthur Fleck follows to become one of the most well-known comic book supervillains.

As reported, Zazie Beetz is in talks to play a lead role, reportedly the one of a single mother and love interest of the main character. It isn't specified, though, if this female character will share Fleck's feelings.

The movie will also feature Thomas Wayne, who is rumoured to be none other than Fleck's father. As far as the mother is concerned, director Todd Phillips has already found a suitable actress to portray Penny. After Frances McDormand didn't sign, he cast actress Frances Conroy.

Frances Conroy is best known for her role in American Horror Story. But this isn't the first time she appears in a DC Comics movie. She also played Ophelia in Catwoman and she voiced Ma Kent in Superman: Unbound and All-Star Superman.

But the biggest casting announcement of today is that Robert De Niro is now officially courted for a role. It has been rumoured for quite a while now that the veteran actor is wanted for Joker. But only now it has been officially announced that he has entered negociations.

If the actor signs, then she is set to portray a talk show host, who has a big role to play in the transformation of Arthur Fleck.

While many fans are excited about this film, some other still believe that it is a bad idea. And this has something to do with the existence of another Joker, portrayed by Jared Leto.

However, we do believe that these kinds of low-budget comic book movies could change the way the general audiences view this genre. And, as Warner Bros will move forward with other Elseworlds stories, the fans will eventually warm up to the idea of multiple versions of their favourite characters.
