Green Lantern Corps: Hal Jordan Shortlist Revealed

While the Green Lantern Corps movie won't arrive until 2020, a pair of writers has already been announced for the flick: David S. Goyer (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Man of Steel) and Justin Rhodes (Grassroots), names that have already caused a number of fans to panic (especially given the former writer's credentials). So it would make sense for the studio to start searching for actors to play both Hal Jordan and John Stewart, two of the movie’s main Green Lanterns.

According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. has already looked at a couple of actors for the role of Hal Jordan, although no discussions have been initiated. Some of the rumored choices might surprise you, since they include Tom Cruise (who will be 57 by the time the movie is released) and Joel McHale (who has just appeared in TV shows so far).

There is one other name on the list that might surprise you: Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool himself, is also wanted for this role.

Bradley Cooper, who voices Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy, is also being eyed - but it would be surprising if he were to enter the negotiations. Armie Hammer is also in consideration. He’s best known for starring opposite Johnny Depp in Lone Ranger, one of the biggest duds in history (nonetheless, there are many fans who consider him the perfect choice for Hal Jordan).

Lastly, according to The Wrap, Warner Bros. is also considering Jake Gyllenhaal for the role - which is great, since he’s currently one of the best actors in Hollywood.

We Got this Covered has come up with an additional name. According to the website, since the release of Westworld, James Marsden (who played Cyclops in the original X-Men trilogy) has become one of the hottest actors in Hollywood, and is also in consideration for the role.

Take all of this with a grain of salt - especially since no discussions have taken place just yet.
