A recent online rumor suggested that Joss Whedon cut the scenes featuring Kiersey Clemons' Iris West from Justice League. There’s been a great deal of speculation since then about whether Warner Bros. plans to cast a different actress as Iris in Flashpoint. But in a new interview, Clemons declared, "I am your Iris West." She also made a few thought-provoking remarks about the character.
Entertainment Tonight caught up with the 23-year-old actress at the premiere of Niels Arden Oplev's psychological thriller Flatliners, in which she portrays a medical student named Sophia. After some chat about Flatliners, the conversation turned to her role in the DC Extended Universe. While talking about how her Iris West might differ from Candice Patton's version in The CW's The Flash, Clemons seemed to hint that West may be from a different time period altogether:
I mean, to be honest, I haven’t tried to pull from her at all. I want my Iris West to be its own world"¦Because of going back and forth past and future with The Flash, you don’t even know what time period you actually meet Iris.
When the interviewer inquired about the current status of Flashpoint, Clemons confirmed that the recent rumor about the script being completed and handed over to the studio is in fact true:
We’re still in the process of replacing our director. We just got a new script"¦obviously, Flashpoint. So, me and Ezra, I guess, are just hanging out!

The fact that Clemons is aware that the script is ready could indicated that she already has it in hand. If that’s the case, her remarks would surely carry more weight. This might seem a little far-fetched, but an attempt to introduce Iris West as a woman from a different time period might just be why her Justice League scenes were cut.
