Flashpoint Not Set in Stone

In one of 2017’s biggest DC Extended Universe announcements, Warner Bros. revealed that they were moving forward with the Flash solo movie, which would be titled Flashpoint. This was apparently a hint that Warner Bros. was preparing for a soft reboot of the shared universe.

We’ve been waiting ever since to hear some additional official news about the project, such as who will direct. But that hasn’t happened so far, and the most recent online reports indicate that we'll have to wait a while for any updates!

According to Justin Kroll of Variety (via CBM), Warner Bros. announced the Flashpoint event as a tease about what might happen after Justice League. Kroll went on to say that the Flash solo flick could be seen as a Justice League movie, which means that it would have to present all of the DCEU superheroes we’ve seen so far (and then some). And with so many stars involved, the studio would have to cough up at least the budget for a big ensemble action film.

So Flashpoint depends on how Justice League performs at the box office. The most recent predictions say that the November flick will make around $110-120 million in the US during its opening weekend, which is a respectable sum for any blockbuster. However, it all depends on the movie’s box-office legs, which depend on critics' reactions and moviegoers’ positive word-of-mouth.

Wonder Woman lifted some of the weight from Justice League's shoulders, but the future of the DCEU still depends on this film.

We'll most likely learn more when Justice League is released on November 17.
