Scheduled for release in 2020, Cyborg is one of the DC Extended Universe’s big surprises, but it makes sense, because the DCEU is based on the New 52 comic book line. But 2020 is in the relatively distant future, and with the way the shared universe tends to stumble, we have to wonder whether we’ll ever see this movie released.
During the City of Heroes convention in the UK, star Ray Fisher said that the movie would still happen, and added that there was plenty of time to find cast and crew.

But is this realistic? For example, The Flash was set for a 2018 release. Everything appeared to go well during pre-production, but the movie has since lost two directors, and now has no scheduled release date. And the Flash is one of the most important Justice League members.
The same applies to the Batman reboot, which also seemed like a sure thing. However, after a script was in place (according to Ben Affleck), the director (also Affleck) dropped out. Matt Reeves was Affleck’s replacement, and he decided that he would rewrite the script from scratch. So, although The Batman was scheduled for a 2018 release, we’re certain that we aren’t going to see it happen until at least 2019.
There have been stumbles in the DCEU, with superheroes who can be viewed as being more important than Cyborg. But maybe this was the problem all along: These are bigger, more widely known superheroes than Victor Stone. Maybe that’s how Ray Fisher knows that the movie will be made on time.
We believe that this should have been a Teen Titans film that also featured Cyborg. But, hey, maybe it will end with Cyborg forming his own team! And maybe that team will be the Teen Titans!
