Over the course of almost 77 years of history, Batman has constantly evolved in the way he was depicted, either in the comics, either in movies or animations. However, no matter what kinds of changes were made, there was a constant: the Caped Crusader always did his best to avoid killing his enemies. Yes, he can be very brutal, but he needs to be in order to instill fear into the Gotham villains.
But will this rule be broken in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? As we know, this is an older version of the character, one that has been darkened by the past experiences. And he knows, probably, that sending a baddie to jail gives that baddie the possibility of escaping and terrorizing the city once again.
We can further assume that he has personally lost beloved ones because of this one rule - for example, we do know that Robin met a gruesome end at the hands of Joker. Wouldn't it have been better if Batman dealt with the Clown Prince of Crime once and for all? Yes, it would have been.
So, according to producer Charles Roven, he isn't willing any longer to give the villains another chance: "He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner." (via Empire Online). Well, that does sound ominous"¦
And we guess we saw some examples of how pitiless the Batman has become in the already released trailers, with one villain screaming in despair, having a Bat sign branded on his chest"¦ Yes, this one survived the encounter. But will the Dark Knight stop? Even Clark Kent says that, he's like one man reign of terror"¦
But we guess we shouldn't be too surprised if Bruce breaks a few bones - after all, the man deals with the scum of the Earth. And we guess we shouldn't be too surprised if he breaks some necks either. After all, Zack Snyder directs. But is that such a really good idea?
What do you think about this Batman, as judge and executioner?
