One of the greatest modern comic book storylines of the Caped Crusader is getting animated treatment. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced a Batman: Hush animated movie is in the works.
We already knew that the sequel to this year's The Death of Superman, Reign of the Supermen, will arrive in early 2019. But we didn't know what other DC animated movies will be released next year. At San Diego Comic-Con 2018, the studio has officially unveiled their slate for the year.
While WBHE releases three DC animated movies, 2019 will see the launch of four such movies. And Batman: Hush is one of them. Unlike this year's Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, the upcoming movie based on Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee's 12-part storyline won't take us to Victorian Era or any other time period.
Rather, the animated movie will be set in the present-day Gotham City and will include the bandage-faced titular villain Hush and other prominent names from the Dark Knight's rogues' gallery like Poison Ivy, R'as al Ghul and the Joker. And of course, there will be the exploration of the romantic potential between Batman and Catwoman.
Other than Reign of the Supermen and Batman: Hush, the DC animated movies that will be released in 2019 are Justice League vs. The Fatal Five and Wonder Woman: Bloodline. Justice League vs. The Fatal Five is going to be the second movie of the year with its release expected in spring. It will pit the DC superheroes against the villainous team created by Jim Shooter in 1967 that includes Tharok, Emerald Empress, Validus, Mano and the Persuader. According to the official announcement, this movie is an original story.
Not much is known about the fourth movie, Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. We only know that this is the first time in almost a decade that Diana Prince will take center stage in an animated movie. The plot is a mystery and so is its release window. But perhaps, it's more likely that the movie will arrive ahead of Wonder Woman 1984, which hits the theaters in November 1, 2019.
