We have a pretty good idea of how Amber Heard will look as Mera in Justice League, thanks to the first look Zack Snyder shared last October and the second trailer released in March. And now we have two new photos of the Queen of Atlantis from James Wan's Aquaman.
Filming for the first standalone Aquaman movie has been underway at the Village Roadshow Studios in Australia since early May, but Heard only recently joined the team. Both actress and director have shared shared stunning new photos of Heard as Mera via their official Twitter accounts.
In the new shots, Heard’s costume is significantly different from the one she wore in Justice League. It's more colorful and bears a striking resemblance to Mera's costume from the DC Comics New 52 era. Whether it's an updated costume, she’s just shed the armor and headpiece, remains unclear, but the new costume has us in love with this version of the character. Check out the shots below!
In another tweet, Heard reflects on all the work it took to prepare herself for the role of Mera in the December 21, 2018 release. Check it out below!

Plot details have been kept under wraps, but we know that Jason Momoa's titular superhero and Amber Heard's character won't be overly friendly at the beginning of Aquaman. James Wan said as much in an interview last October, adding that they learn to work together and become closer as the story progresses. He described Mera as someone who projects both a "sense of strength…and…a sort of feminine quality".
