Ever since it was revealed that the Robin killed by The Joker in the DC Extended Universe was actually Jason Todd, many started believing that the arrival of Red Hood is only a matter of time. It was largely speculated that the untitled Batman standalone movie will follow the immensely popular story arc of Batman: Under the Red Hood.
At this moment, that doesn't seem likely for multiple reasons. First of all, Warner Bros. has officially cast Joe Manganiello to play Deathstroke and he, according to a follow-up report, is going to be the main antagonist in the movie. Then there are rumors about the movie taking place inside the Arkham Asylum, at least to a certain extent.
However, since movies based on comic books rarely remain faithful to a particular story arc, we could still expect to see Red Hood in the venture that will have Ben Affleck in the leading role, both behind and in front of the camera.
So, based on such expectations, a fan named redhoodinc has already launched a petition at Change.org not only asking Warner Bros. to include the iconic anti-hero in a future DCEU installment but also to cast a particular actor for the role. The actor whom the fan considers as a "perfect" casting choice for the role is none other than Shia LaBeouf!
Shia is best known for playing the lead character in the first three Transformers movies, Sam Witwicky, and for his roles in Fury, Disturbia, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. While the 30-year-old actor does surely have the potential to portray a character like Red Hood, it is highly unlikely that Warner Bros. would consider even him for the role.
In a recent interview, Shia LaBeouf revealed that he was originally approached by David Ayer for a role in Suicide Squad, but the studio vetoed his casting. According to the actor, they didn't want someone like him – who is a "good actor", but "crazy" - to be in such a big investment!
