Scriptwriter Found for Black Widow Movie!

If 2019 is going to bring about the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it, we can't help but wonder what will happen after that. Will the shared universe be split into phases as it was before? Similar to Thanos’ quest for the Infinity Stones, will an overarching story be told over the course of several movies? We don’t have the answers to these questions.

We already know that will be released down the road, but we may have discovered another title that will follow Avengers 4. It's Black Widow, which Marvel boss Kevin Feige has been teasing for what feels like ages!

Variety recently reported that after meeting with a number of candidates, Feige hired Jac Schaeffer to pen the script for the Black Widow solo film. Schaeffer hasn't amassed a huge number of credits, but her black-list script The Shower received quite a bit of attention after actress Anne Hathaway signed on to star in the movie. Schaeffer also wrote the script for the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake Nasty Women, another Hathaway movie.

We should note that this is just an indication that the Black Widow movie is in the early stages of pre-production, and it's not likely that the studio has even officially okayed the project yet.

And there's no indication that Scarlett Johansson, who's played the character since 2010’s Iron Man 2, will return for the solo movie. At this point, we don’t even know whether the character will survive the Infinity War or the still-untitled Avengers 4. Also, if the rumors inspired by the most recent Avengers 4 set pics are accurate, the universe will explore a new time travel theme. This could mean that the Black Widow solo film will be a prequel, or even that the Natasha Romanoff role might be recast.
