Legion: Fox and Marvel are Building Bridges

The NYCC brought plenty of clips and news - however, none is more important than what was said at the Legion panel.

Waiting to debut sometime in 2017, the first half of FX's Legion was screened yesterday at the NYCC. As many have expected, considering the concept of the new show, the audiences had a very positive reaction to what they have seen. The news that Professor X might appear sometime during the first season (according to showrunner Noah Hawley) sparked even more interest.

However, it is what Jeph Loeb said that actually interests us. And that’s because it comes as a confirmation of what producer Noah Hawley said a while ago: that Legion is the first project in a collaboration between Marvel and Fox (as we all know, Fox owns the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and all connected villains and characters).

Loeb (who is the head of Marvel TV) said that Legion should be in itself an indication that Marvel and Fox are building bridges:

I think this audience is sophisticated enough to know that the X-Men characters live in the Fox world and [Marvel TV] lives in a different world. Obviously, the fact that I'm sitting here is an indication of bridges that are being made - people like Lauren [Shuler Donner] are facilitating that and making that happen, and John Landgraf who's the head of FX, who's very involved. (via Screen Rant)

Does this mean that we are closer to seeing the X-Men joining the Avengers than we believe? It may be so, even if it may also mean that, actually, Loeb is talking strictly about the small screen universes.

Even if it is the latter case, this can still be considered a giant leap toward seeing the mutants and the Fantastic Four finally joining the MCU (or, who knows, maybe the other way around, with some of the Avengers joining the X-Universe).
