Kingsman Director Wants to do a Fantastic Four Movie, Just to “Apologize”!

Kingsman director says he might do a Fantastic Four movie to apologize to fans!

Matthew Vaughn recently mentioned several projects that he might commit to down the road. Now he’s added a big-screen Fantastic Four revival to his wishlist.

Critical response to Vaughn's latest flick, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, has been mixed (57 percent on Rotten Tomatoes as of this writing) but it looks to be a great improvement over Josh Trank's Fant4stic. That movie was not only slammed by the critics, it was also rejected by the fans.

Many may not realize it, but Vaughn served as a producer for that project. The director told CinemaBlend that he felt morally obligated to reboot Marvel’s First Family because of his involvement in the Fant4stic disaster:

The other one I’ve felt an obligation to do is, I wouldn’t mind maybe making a Fantastic Four film to apologize to everyone out there that maybe it didn’t go very well for them. It’s brilliant. One of my favorites is the Fantastic Four, so maybe one day I’ll try and rectify the mistake.

Matthew Vaughn is unlikely to do a Fantastic Four movie soon as he is considering a number of other projects as well

It's entirely possible that Vaughn might someday direct a Fantastic Four movie (20th Century Fox is not likely to refuse him), but that day apparently won’t come anytime soon. He’s set to direct MGM’s adaptation of Terry Hayes' novel I Am Pilgrim, and has recently expressed interest in seeing the Kingsman franchise through at least a trilogy, and possibly creating a shared universe out of it.

Apart from all that, Warner Bros. is trying to sign Vaughn to direct Man of Steel 2, which would also appeal to him. The director recently shared his vision for the project. At this point, it's difficult to say which project whets his appetite most.
