Kevin Smith Would Direct A Question Movie

The Question

Kevin Smith is best known for his directorial feats with Clerks and the recently released Tusk. He's never really been involved in the comic book movie industry.

On a superhero movie fan's map, he's nothing like Feige, Whedon or Snyder. But no one knows what future holds for someone who's recently declared what Kevin Smith had.

Yes, Smith is a superhero movie fan. And such a fan that he's named his very own daughter Harley Quinn Smith. And, indeed, this indicates he's primarily a DC fan.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Smith revealed he would actually undertake to direct a superhero movie if the opportunity was offered.

Kevin Smith doesn't want Batman

While Batman is one of the established A-listers of the DC Movie Universe, he's not one Kevin Smith would feel tempted to tackle.

Why?

"I always thought if you were in an alley and f"”ing Batman showed up you’d be like, ‘Oh f"”, Batman", says Kevin Smith.

What's that supposed to mean? Perhaps it's a way of saying Batman has been explored, as character, to such depth on the big screen that it's hard to be creative about him. Could it be that?

Instead, Smith prefers one of the less prominent DC characters.

The Question: director's pick

DC's Question

DC’s Question

Never before portrayed on the big screen, the Question is Kevin Smith's choice. His comparison to Batman continues like this:

"But if a dude shows up with no features and starts punching you, you would probably kill yourself in fear".

So, it's not only the creative possibilities he might have with a yet to be developed - if ever - character for the big screen, but it's also the director's personal take on the Question.

Smith wouldn't confine to just crafting a version for the big screen, he would also "put a "˜noir-ish thriller' spin on" him.

Having no facial features, the Question could easily be considered a fairly creepy character. The spin Smith has in mid would make him even more so.

So, there you have it: Kevin Smith prefers DC's B-list. But don't you think the Question would be better developed in a TV series? And would Kevin Smith be a good choice for the director's seat?
