Jessica Jones Season Two: New Images and Synopsis!

A few months ago, we reported on the announcement that David Tennant’s villainous Kilgrave would return for Jessica Jones Season Two. We questioned how that would play out, since Jessica (Krysten Ritter) had snapped his neck during the inaugural season’s finale. However, it appears that we now have the answer.

Digital Spy recently got their hands on the first synopsis of the Marvel/Netflix show’s sophomore season. The synopsis seems to suggest that, unlike Elektra (Elodie Yung) in The Defenders, Kilgrave won’t be raised from the dead. Rather, he resurrects in Jessica’s head as she tries to dig deeper into her past while working on a new case. Check out the synopsis:

New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.

The website also released this brand new photo from the second season, in which Ritter’s badass detective appears to be distressed:

Entertainment Weekly shared a new photo in which Jessica appears to be just as upset. This time we know why, though, as Kilgrave is standing right next her. Check it out below!

During a lengthy EW interview of Ritter and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, the actress offered further insight on what to expect from the upcoming season:

Jessica is in a pretty dark head space when we meet her at the top of Season Two. What we’ve done again is kept the story very personal. If Season One was in her head and in her mind, then this season will be more in her heart. It’s still a psychological thriller, but it’s more of an emotional thriller this time.

The interviewer asked Rosenberg whether Jessica and the rest of The Defenders will have anything to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, specifically Avengers: Infinity War. The movie's recently released trailer showed Thanos invading New York. The showrunner's response:

None whatsoever. Our partners are Marvel, and if we’re doing something that’s counter to , they would pull us back or orient us on the right path, so clearly we’re . But we’re very much in our own world.
