J.K. Simmons Talks Jim Gordon in Justice League and Future DCEU Movies!

J.K. Simmons talks about his Jim Gordon Justice League and future DCEU movies!

Zack Snyder's Justice League is set to introduce J.K. Simmons, best recognized by comic book movie fans as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, as Commissioner Jim Gordon.

We, the fans, are obviously excited about the Academy Award winning actor's addition as the iconic supporting character from Batman comics.

Earlier this month, Simmons claimed that his character in Justice League is not going to someone who just turns on the bat signal and pleads for Batman's help. He promised a badass version of Jim Gordon who can take care of himself and be a real partner to the Caped Crusader.

And now, in a more recent interview with Entertainment Tonight (via Screen Rant), the actor reaffirms his earlier comments:

If you look at the history of the character, in the comics, he's a pretty tough guy. He's not just this sort of comic relief, he's not just anything, he's a part of that universe.

According to J.K. Simmons, Jim Gordon doesn't have a big role in Justice League, but if Warner Bros. sticks with the current plan, the character will figure more significantly in future DC Extended Universe installments. Here's what he says:

And in the first film that we're currently shooting [Justice League], my part is not as big as, knock wood, it will be in some of the future films, the Batman film - you never know for sure what's going to be made, what's not going to be made. But the plan is - Plan A, if that indeed comes to fruition - is that there will be more Commissioner Gordon in the future. And I have absolutely no idea, zero idea, but I'm lobbying right now: let Commissioner Gordon be a badass.

During the interview, Simmons also clarifies that the viral photos of his, looking super-jacked while working out at a gym, had nothing to do with his Justice League role. He's been going to the gym for the last five or six years on a regular basis.

The 61-year-old actor refuses to ask for any tips from Gary Oldman, the actor who portrayed Jim Gordon in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. He admits that Oldman is "a great, great actor", who was "awesome" as Gordon, but says that he is "doing a different version".

Apart from Justice League, how many movies would you like to see J.K. Simmons appear in as Commissioner Jim Gordon? Share via comments!
