Homecoming Director Explains Why Spider-Man Has No [Spoiler]!

Since the first MCU Spider-Man was announced, Kevin Feige has made it clear that this version of the web-crawler will be completely different from the others. The first evidence of this was the casting of Tom Holland and the news that Spider-Man: Homecoming wouldn’t present an origin story.

So we won't see Uncle BenMary Jane WatsonGwen Stacy, or Harry Osborn, all of whom appeared in the movies directed by Sam Raimi and Marc Webb. Feige also kept his word by adding Vulture as the movie's main antagonist, avoiding villains who appeared in previous Spider-Man films.

However, Homecoming leaves out one essential Spider-Man element, and it's something that, along with his age, makes him unique among the Avengers. Check it out below, but keep in mind that it's a major spoiler!

Fortunately, Spider-Man: Homecoming reviewers have said that some surprises remain unspoiled by trailers or clips.

As mentioned, Director Jon Watts is trying to steer clear of elements we've seen in previous films, and he told Cinema Blend that this new Spider-Man lacks Spider-Sense:

I feel like we have seen a lot of Spider-Sense in the previous films, so we didn’t really lean into that as hard as they have in the previous films. But I do think it is a really interesting thing to explore.

So while Spider-Man: Homecoming doesn’t touch on that unique ability, it doesn’t mean that it won't be included in subsequent movies. On the contrary, Jon Watts agreed that it's worth exploring.
