Han Solo died by the hands of his own son - and this shouldn't be a spoiler for you, considering the big business and big event that Star Wars: The Force Awaken is. But doesn't mean at all that he won't be back. As a matter of fact, he will certainly be, maybe even sooner than expected - after all, 2018 will bring the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film (quite a mouthful this is).
And while the movie is still about 2 years away, Disney and directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have already started searching for a replacement for Harrison Ford, a young actor who can take the lead. If at first there were about 2,500 aspirants for the role, Variety now reports that a handful of them have already been shortlisted.
Variety also suspects that, since the Han Solo solo flick will be shot in January 2017, the character will also make a small cameo this year as well, in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (16 December 2016).
So who are these lucky guys?
Miles Teller (the infamous Fantastic Four reboot, Whiplash)
Dave Franco (brother of James Franco, Now You See Me, Neighbors)
Scott Eastwood (son of Clint, Fury, the upcoming Suicide Squad)
Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars, the Divergent series)
Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction)
Logan Lerman (Fury, Percy Jackson, The Perks of Being a Wallflower)
Emory Cohen (The Place Beyond the Pines)
Blake Jenner (Glee, and his favorite movie is Dumb and Dumber)
So quite a few talents in here, competing for this role, right? Who has the best chances of becoming Han Solo? Variety also reports that the directors will start testing the actors as soon as possible, with a decision expected in a couple of weeks.
