The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are Coming To Call Of Duty

Call of Duty x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Activision

The heroes in a half-shell are making their way to an unexpected place. Activision has revealed that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming to Call of Duty. That’s right! The wildly popular shooter is going to play host to Donnie, Raph, Mikey and Leo. Will Master Splinter or Shredder be along for the ride as well? That remains to be seen as the information we have right now is limited. For now, check out the announcement teaser below.

Again, that’s not much to go on but the hook is clear. It’s TMNT meets COD. The characters are expected to arrive in both Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone. For now, no release date for the collaboration has been revealed. It’s also unclear how far it extends. Whether it means the Turtles as playable characters, new maps, skins, or all of it, has yet to be confirmed. Either way, this is a unique collab, to say the least.

In fairness, the Ninja Turtles are no strangers to such collabs. From TMNT x Stranger Things a few years ago to coming face-to-face with Batman several times, they’ve been part of some big franchises in the past. But putting the Turtles in the popular shooter is certainly a unique choice. Then again, the Turtles do have a long history in gaming as well.

Dating back the ‘80s and ‘90s, TMNT has been a video game staple for decades. More recently, we had retro throwbacks like Shredder’s Revenge that have been met with acclaim. Looking ahead, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is being adapted into a video game as we speak. So, why not have them mix it up in one of the most popular video games on the planet?

Here is the synopsis for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

“Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.

The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.”

Elsewhere, fans can look forward to the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem sequel, which is currently expected to arrive in theaters next year. Paramount is also working on a live-action, R-rated movie based on The Last Ronin.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now for console and PC.
