Feige Discusses Bringing Captain Britain into the MCU

Since its glorious beginnings in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has added a host of new characters in its various movies, including both villains and heroes. In the process, Kevin Feige and Company have certainly made the most of what the comics had to offer. Even so, there are countless superheroes and supervillains who haven't yet been introduced in the shared universe.

Brian Braddock, who’s better known as Captain Britain, is one such hero. Originally created to be Captain America’s British counterpart, Captain Britain has grown to be much more, and his origins have been traced to the legendary Merlyn and his daughter Roma.

Even more importantly, Captain Britain is the fraternal twin of another fan-favorite superhero, Betsy Braddock, aka Psylocke. We saw Psylocke’s debut in last year’s underwhelming X-Men: Apocalypse.

Nonetheless, Marvel owns the rights to Captain Britain, despite the fact that his sister is a mutant. So he can be included in upcoming MCU movies, and who knows? He could appear as early as the beginning of Phase IV.

While promoting Spider-Man: Homecoming, Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal discussed the future of each studio’s characters. Among other heroes, Feige said that discussions in connection with Captain Britain have taken place. The studio has even met with actors who have come in and requested the role.

It’s extremely interesting to hear about this. We find it even more interesting that actors have expressed a desire to play a character none of us knew was so hot.
