Good news for those who adore the friendly rivalry between Falcon and Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - the duo is teaming up for a potential live-action series.
Variety is reporting that a limited series revolving around Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes is in the works at the upcoming Disney streaming service. While Disney and Marvel have refrained from making a comment, the trade suggests that the series has already found its writer in Malcolm Spellman.
Spellman, in case you didn't know, is a writer and producer best recognized for his work on the Fox musical drama series Empire. He is also serving as an executive producer in the upcoming HBO series Confederate. The Falcon and Winter Soldier series will be his first endeavor in the world of superheroes.
With Mackie and Stan's heroes being among the casualties of The Snappening in Avengers: Infinity War, it's unclear whether the series will follow them in a present-day setting. What we know at this point is that it will consist of six to eight episodes. Unlike shows like Daredevil and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it will be spearheaded by Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios. It is also expected to have a heftier budget than those shows.
Last month, we learned about two similar in-development series at the Disney streaming service that would put Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Tom Hiddleston's Loki front and center. As far as we know, those shows haven't tapped any writer yet. But according to a new SlashFilm report, Paul Bettany's Vision is set to appear in the Scarlet Witch series. And apparently, it won't be merely a cameo. The website suggests that Vision would have a large part in the show.
