Ezra Miller talks about the unique relationship between Batman and The Flash in Justice League!

Ezra Miller made cameo appearances as The Flash in 2016’s two DC Extended Universe installments - Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad - but he had more screen time in the Comic-Con trailer for Justice League than the two movies combined! At least it served to better convince people that Miller's version of the character would be a delight to watch, just as Grant Gustin's version was on television.

Most of us would agree that the highlight of the trailer was the sequence featuring Miller’s Barry Allen and Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne. The unique kind of relationship between the two superheroes is something we are looking forward to exploring in Justice League.

In a recent interview with IGN, Miller is asked to describe the relationship between The Flash and Batman in the upcoming Zack Snyder venture. In response, the 24-year-old actor states that the relationship between the two is like that between someone who is "naïve and excited" and someone who is "experienced and jaded". The two superheroes see each other as "reflections of one another" and are sometimes "amused" and sometimes "annoyed" by one other. Miller adds:

I think Bruce and Barry get a kick out of each other because they’re seeing sort of themselves but reflected in this very warped mirror. Bruce, the aged Batman, is everything that being a superhero means you could become, in terms of being pretty shut down and having seen all this horror.

According to Miller, Ben Affleck's character is "a veteran of this struggle against evil", while The Flash is just getting started as a superhero. He finds it "exciting" and "very fun". Miller concludes by saying:

And so, I think they have a lot to learn from each other, like in any great friendship. I think it’s a fascinating relationship.

While everything is looking good for Justice League, the first standalone movie for Ezra Miller's character doesn't seem to be giving off such positive vibes. Rick Famuyiwa, who replaced Seth Grahame-Smith earlier this year as The Flash movie's director, walked away from the project a couple of weeks ago.

We haven't heard anyone's name as a potential candidate for the job, but in a separate interview with Cinema Blend, Miller weighs in on what particular quality The Flash movie needs in its next director. According to the actor:

I think that the most important quality is the open heart. I think that The Flash has to be a story that is heartfelt. Because I think that’s where the lightning really is.

While reports have suggested that production and release of the Scarlet Speedster's standalone movie might eventually get pushed back, the actor suggested in another recent interview that they will be filming in 2017.

Are you looking forward to seeing Ben Affleck's Batman and Ezra Miller's The Flash together in Justice League? Who do you think Warner Bros. should appoint to helm the Scarlet Speedster's standalone movie? Share via comments!
