Early Batman Design for the DCEU Inspired by Arkham Series

The final trailer for 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice spoiled the identity of the baddie who would inspire the titular superheroes to unite, but it also revealed the Dark Knight we’ve always wanted to see on the big screen. The teased warehouse fight was probably the film’s best scene, showcasing Batman's fighting skills and cunning as he went up against multiple henchmen simultaneously.

The Caped Crusader in the Batman: Arkham series was obviously the inspiration for the BvS character, which showed that Zack Snyder looked beyond the comics when creating this new version of the superhero.

As it turned out, concept artist Jerad S. Marantz revealed that an early design of the suit Ben Affleck wore in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was similar to the one from the games. Check it out below:

Another costume design that was under consideration was bulkier and included armor-plating, which would have helped a lot in the scene mentioned above:

We feel that the slick, streamlined cowl Affleck’s character wore was the perfect choice, although there’s always room for improvement. Some fans have mocked the tactical version of the suit in the upcoming Justice League, but this pic looks as if it came straight from the pages of a comic book:
