Soon after 20th Century Fox greenlighted Deadpool 2, we learned that the sequel would introduce two iconic mutants from Marvel Comics: Nathan Summers, aka Cable, and Neena Thurman, aka Domino. After months of searching, Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz were cast to play them.
Deadpool 2 has been filming for over a month, but we’re still waiting to see Brolin as Cable. However, via a photo lead actor Ryan Reynolds shared on his various social media accounts, we’ve had a look at Beetz as Domino. The photo’s caption read Some people just know how to work a red carpet.
The Deadpool sequel’s Domino is not exactly a dead ringer for her comic book counterpart, but her pose in the photo looks familiar. Remember our first look at the Merc with a Mouth from the original movie, inc which Reynolds' character was lying on a bearskin rug. Well, in the Deadpool 2 photo, Beetz's character is using none other than Deadpool as a rug! Check it out below!
UPDATE: Another new promotional image featuring Zazie Beetz’s Domino has arrived! Check it out below!
The comic books’ Domino has not only enhanced reflexes and skills in martial arts and marksmanship, but also the ability to alter probability fields. During a recent ScreenRant interview, director David Leitch teased how he would bring this unique power to life in Deadpool 2:
We're excited to play with that idea in choreography. I'm not going to give you how it's all going to play out. As a choreographer, having a character with her abilities is really a trick. I think at first it seems like a problem. Like, oh, my god, how do you demonstrate luck? And then you just see it like, oh, this is the coolest opportunity ever, so we're really excited, and we're creating really great stuff for her character.
