Dave Bautista was the first Guardians of the Galaxy actor to defend director James Gunn, after the latter was fired by Disney. Since then, the wrestler turned actor has maintained his stance, considering that Disney (who owns Marvel Studios) shouldn't have given in.
And that especially since James Gunn wasn't necessarily fired because of his tweets, but rather because of his criticism to the Trump administration.
Dave Bautista also signed the statement all the Guardians of the Galaxy actors have signed in support of the director. But, as it seems, it may all be in vain. After the shock of the decision to fire Gunn, it is very unlikely that Disney will rehire him.
Most recently, Dave Bautista said that it feels nauseating to work for a company that, basically, empowers cybernazis. And this is one of the strongest statements that could be made about Disney:
I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn't GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who'd empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis . That's just how I feel https://t.co/Ym4FwruVDu

So, basically, it seems that Bautista simply doesn't want to work for Disney, even if his acting career was launched thanks to his role as Drax. And we are not saying this lightly, that Bautista wants to quit, since he himself said this.
During an interview with Shortlist, the actor said that he'd be doing James Gunn a disservice if he continues in this role. And that especially if Gunn's vision isn't continued. Check it out below:
"Where I'm at right now is that if [Marvel] don't use that script, then I'm going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me. I'd be doing James a disservice if I didn't."
Most likely, Disney will want to cut all ties with James Gunn. And this means that the studio won't use his script for Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
What do you think though? It is clear that Disney won't backtrack and won't rehire Gunn.
